Please be advised that the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) State Operations Command has issued a Total Fire Ban Order for the entire State of New South Wales, from 00:01 hrs Monday 11 November 2019 to 23:59 hrs Wednesday 13 November 2019.

Schools are reminded of the critical importance of ensuring that their Bushfire Management Plan is active and being implemented.

Following consultation with the RFS and Catholic Schools NSW regarding the Catastrophic Fire Advisory Warning in place, CEDoW will be taking a number of precautionary steps/measures tomorrow, Tuesday 12 November 2019.

One of those precautionary measures, based on that advice, is that the Director of Schools, in collaboration with principals, has decided to officially close a number of our schools tomorrow.

The following schools will be officially closed for Tuesday 12 November:

Holy Cross Catholic Primary School, HELENSBURGH
St Michael's Catholic Primary School, NOWRA
St John the Evangelist Catholic High School, NOWRA
St Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Primary School, MILTON
St Michael's Catholic Primary School, MITTAGONG
St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Primary School, BOWRAL
St Paul's Catholic Primary School, MOSS VALE
St Anthony's Catholic Primary School, PICTON

Principals of those schools are currently communicating this to their staff, parents and students.

Schools are asked to take all necessary steps to avoid any out-of-routine activities (eg excursions, off-site sport activities etc) and ensure that travel plans are clear and contingencies are in place if required.

In addition, we ask all CEDoW staff to avoid any unnecessary travel tomorrow, including travel on Appin and Picton Roads.

UPDATE: Based on advice received from the NSW RFS about Wednesday's forecast weather & fire conditions, all CEDoW schools will be OPEN on Wednesday 13 November.
(A Total Fire Ban Order is still in place for the entire state of NSW for all of Wednesday.)
