A new 2018 Advent Calendar app is featuring CEDoW students’ Christmas Story Art Competition artworks as part of its daily delivery of visual and written inspiration for the Christmas season.

The Advent Calendar is a joint project of Xt3 and Sydney Catholic Youth, and promises to help busy Catholics slow down and spiritually prepare their hearts and minds for Christmas - be it in youth groups, parishes, schools or on their own personal Advent journey.

This is the third year the app producers have teamed up with the Christmas Story Art Exhibition and Competition - a combined initiative of the Catholic education offices in Wollongong and Sydney, designed to explore and celebrate Year 5 and 6 students’ creative and artistic interpretations of the Christmas story.

The calendar features a beautiful new artwork from a school student each day -  including last year’s successful CEDoW student entries.

Congratulations to the following students who have their artwork shown on the 2018 Advent Calendar:

Team leader for Sydney Catholic Youth, Chris Lee, believes the Advent app will enhance the spiritual journey of many Catholics in the lead-up to Christmas, particularly young Catholics.

“It’s all about connecting them to the Church directly via their iPhones and travelling with them along the Advent journey, drawing them closer to God and helping them prepare for Christmas,” he said.

The first calendar feature appears today - 2 December, 2018, the first Sunday of Advent. Calendar material will only be viewable up to the present date, meaning a new door with new features will continue to be revealed every day until 6 January, 2019.
