Now in its fourth year, this year's DOW Spotlight on Technology event, 'Spotlight 18', is two days of NESA-registered professional development aimed at showcasing powerful teaching and learning in classrooms across the Diocese of Wollongong, and sharing the best and most practical ideas from our Diocese and others.

This major event will feature a range of great opportunities, including:

  • keynote addresses – hear from world class practitioners and speakers;
  • student panels – hear what our kids are thinking;
  • competitions – competitions for students, staff and this year, parents;
  • outstanding teacher spotlight sessions – hear from other teachers;
  • vendor displays and presentations highlighting the latest educational technology – hear from suppliers; and
  • wonderful hands-on workshops.
The two days will have an emphasis on jobs of the future and what they will look like and how to prepare our students for them. Kids in Kindergarten this year will be looking for jobs in 12 years time. How many new kinds of job have been created in the last 12 years? Come to Spotlight and find out.

DOW Spotlight on Technology 2018 Garner AnnettDay 2 will feature Education Sales Director for Apple in Australia and New Zealand, Garner Annett, who will address the conference on how we help our students learn today and prepare them for a rapidly changing world. Technology affects the way we communicate, the way we work, the way we live day to day. It also empowers every individual — and every learner — to create amazing things and make a difference in the world. But first, he says, we need to raise the bar for what’s expected, and what’s possible, for learning with technology.
