Many students from our Catholic schools apply each year to participate in Learning Labs, a school holiday program for gifted and talented students, at the University of Wollongong (UOW).  These two-day workshops are designed for students performing in the top 10-15% in their area of interest, involving them in intellectually rigorous, challenging and fun experiences . The workshops are run by teachers with specialist training and experience in gifted education and are pitched one stage level above current year level.  Students have the opportunity to mix with like-minded children from Catholic, public and independent schools from all over the region, while  becoming familiar with the university campus and facilities.  Little Learning Labs (Yr 1-2), Early Learning Labs (Yr 3-4 and 5-6) and Learning Labs (Year 7-8 and 9-10) run during the January and July school holidays.

The Learning Labs program is part of in2Uni, an initiative of the University of Wollongong which aims to build in students, aspirations and awareness toward higher education, while fostering a culture of lifelong learning and engagement with education. Now into its fifth year, UOW is in partnership with fifteen schools from Catholic Education Wollongong, and offers a range of programs for students as young as Year One, and continues to offer support right through high school and throughout their transition to university. The program also supports students who select other vocational pathways, encouraging all students to remain connected with education beyond their high school years.
