'Environment Matters' Blog | World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation

Posted 27 September 2017 by Beth Riolo in 'Environment Matters' Blog

Ss. Peter and Paul, Kiama had an action packed day full of various activities to celebrate the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation.

The day started with the Liturgy Team leading the school in a prayer that Pope Francis composed for his Laudato Si’ encyclical. Throughout the day students participated in activities to help reinforce their understanding of why it’s important to care for the environment, plus practical ways to do this. The Environmental team created a scarecrow for our garden and have entered this in the Bunnings Competition and hope to win money that will go towards purchasing items for our school garden. The day culminated in staff, parents and students coming together for a liturgy to thank God for the wonderful handiwork which has been entrusted to our care.
