Towards the end of last term, the environmental group at Holy Spirit College joined forces with the Lions Club in Corrimal to recycle used glasses.

The Lions Club of Australia has been running a programme to recycle glasses which has been going for 26 years and has delivered over 7 million pairs of spectacles to men, women and children in need in places like Africa, Europe, Middle East, India, East Asia, Southern Asia and Oceania.

The environmental group asked members of the college to bring in their old glasses to donate to the cause and, thanks to the generosity of the staff, students and families, have managed to collect over 65 pairs.

In an assembly, Mr Neil Cranney from the Corrimal branch of the Lions came to collect the big box of glasses and to give the students some information about the work of the Lions and where the glasses were heading.

The environmental group would like to thank Mr Cranney for his time and support of this endeavour.
