To commemorate the fifth anniversary of the encyclical Laudato Si', Pope Francis has invited Catholics to participate in Laudato Si' Week, a nine-day global campaign taking place May 16-24, 2020.

Laudato Si'- On Care for Our Common Home is an encyclical letter written in 2015 from Pope Francis which is addressed to "every person living on this planet" challenging us to enter into an inclusive dialogue about how we are shaping the future of our world. Pope Francis called the Church and the world to acknowledge the urgency of our environmental challenges and to join him in embarking on a new path. This encyclical was written with both hope and resolve, looking to our common future with candour and humility.

Since the release of Laudato Si', CEDoW has taken this challenge very seriously by proactively responding to the Pope’s call for an ecological conversion in a strategic, planned approach whereby sustainable practices and ecological values are promoted and supported across the system of schools in the Wollongong diocese.

On this 5th anniversary of the encyclical we celebrate the many ecological actions that have taken place in our school communities and we recommit ourselves to continuing to care for our common home through our collective journey of ecological conversion that brings life to all of creation.
