The Laudato Si' Week theme, Hope for the Earth, Hope for Humanity was the focus for prayer when the WEN Teacher Contact group gathered for their annual professional learning day. This day is always a wonderful opportunity for WEN teachers to network, collaborate and share information and ideas in the ecological space. The Wollongong Environment Network is an initiative that aims to support school communities to respond to Laudato Si’ and implement environmental stewardship and sustainability.

Held during Laudato Si' Week the WEN professional learning day included a viewing of the inspiring Pope Francis film, The Letter, which features the voices of those most impacted by the climate crisis  – youth, indigenous, poor and nature.

The day also offered teachers the opportunity to explore the Vatican document Our Common Home: A Guide to Caring for Our Living Planet, to have some time to consider Catholic Earthcare Accreditation Level 4 and the Laudato Si' Action Platform, hear about the Environmental Education Grants projects from 2022 as well as gathering information about upcoming environmental events, eco resources, programs and updates.
