Accreditation (NESA)

Teacher accreditation means a teacher has met the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers  at one of the four career stages;

  • Graduate
  • Proficient
  • Highly Accomplished
  • Lead

Teacher Accreditation at Proficient Teacher level is a mandatory process that supports quality teaching, recognises the invaluable role that teachers play in the community, helps develop teachers and contributes to improved student learning outcomes

TEACHER ACCREDITATION POLICY - DIOCESE OF WOLLONGONG

The Diocese of Wollongong Teacher Accreditation Policy applies to teachers who are seeking accreditation at Proficient Teacher and those Teachers who are maintaining their accreditation status at Proficient Teacher.  It outlines the requirements for evidence-based and procedurally fair Teacher Accreditation processes.

This Policy has been developed to ensure that Schools and Teachers meet their compliance requirements with Catholic Education, Diocese of Wollongong (CEDoW), the New South Wales, Education Standards Authority (NESA) and the Australian Education Act 2013.

From 1 January 2018, employees must be accredited to start, continue or return to teaching in any NSW school or early childhood service. The NESA  (NSW Education Standards Authority, previously BOSTES) website has a comprehensive guide to everything you need to know about being accredited to work and teach in NSW schools.
