Director of Schools, Mr Peter Turner, is delighted to announce the launch of the Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong 2019 Lighting the Way Faith and Learning Awards and Recognition Program.

In its third year, the annual Awards and Recognition Program acknowledges and affirms the significant contributions of staff to our overarching mission and vision to create vibrant Catholic school communities where every student finds meaning and purpose. We are pleased to present a meaningful approach to the way the outstanding achievements and career milestones of our committed and dedicated staff, both in Diocesan Catholic schools and in the Catholic Education Office, are celebrated.

NOMINATIONS DATES

Nominations for the Professional Practice Awards, the Outstanding Early Career Teachers Award and the Outstanding Support Staff Award are open from Tuesday, 11 June 2019 and close Friday, 20 September 2019.

The recipients for these awards will be recommended by the Moderating Panel based on set criteria. To be eligible for consideration, please complete the online nomination form during the designated nomination period and submit before the advertised closing date.

The Director of Schools approves the recipients of all awards. This decision is final.

 

CONFERRING EVENTS

Lighting the Way Faith and Learning Recognition Awards Evening

The annual Lighting the Way Faith and Learning Recognition Awards Evening is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our CEDoW teachers and staff. It is an official and esteemed event in the annual Diocesan calendar, attended by all nominees, and supporting school staff, principals and CEO personnel. Recipients of the following awards will be announced on the evening: 

This year, the Lighting the Way Faith and Learning Recognition Awards Evening will be held on Friday, 22 November 2019 at the Campbelltown Catholic Club.

 

Bishop's Student Excellence Awards CEREMONY

The Bishop's Student Excellence Awards seek to recognise the religious, academic and community-based achievement one Year 12 student from each Catholic systemic and congregational secondary school across the Diocese of Wollongong. As an official and esteemed event in the annual Diocesan calendar, these awards will be conferred at an afternoon ceremony, attended by the recipients, invited family and school staff, as well as the principals and senior CEO personnel.

This year, the Bishop's Student Excellence Awards Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, 13 November 2019 at Villa D'Oro, Wollongong.

 

Accreditation Recognition Ceremony

The annual Accreditation Recognition Ceremony acknowledges teachers for achieving NESA accreditation levels of Proficient Teacher, Highly Accomplished Teacher and Lead Teacher by conferring on them an Accreditation Recognition Award. The ceremony is a formal event that is held on the afternoon of the Term 3 Principals’ and CEO Meeting day and will be attended by recipients of the awards, invited family and colleagues, as well as the principals and senior CEO personnel. 

This year, the Accreditation Recognition Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, 28 August 2019 at Villa D'Oro, Wollongong.
