They actively develop skills in planning and conducting investigations, recording and analysing data, and problem solving. Students explore real world phenomena and develop solutions to authentic problems.

Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong has also produced a CEDoW STEM Strategy to develop the awareness and importance of STEM education. It aims to support initiatives to develop cross-disciplinary, critical and creative thinking skills, problem solving capabilities and the effective utilisation of digital technologies, which are essential in all 21st century occupations. CEDoW has also developed a webspace to support the effective integration of STEM and implementation of the STEM strategy to develop students who will succeed in the future.
