The aim of this focus area is to develop plans and take proactive action to position our system of Catholic schools to respond effectively to contemporary challenges and shape the future in the interests of our students.

As Catholic educators, we’re the custodians of a precious 200-year legacy. But in a world of constant change, the flourishing of our schools requires explicit attention. We have a responsibility to look beyond immediate needs to ensure our system remains affordable, available, and accessible for future generations.

To ensure we thrive regardless of what the future holds, we’re bringing together expertise from across our schools, the Catholic Education Office, and partner organisations. By analysing trends and anticipating challenges, we will design innovative approaches to learning delivery, build contemporary and inspiring facilities, ensure sustainable funding sources, and shape a future-fit workforce grounded in our Catholic identity.

To drive improvement in this focus area, we will:

  • Cultivate an adaptive culture that’s both faithful to our Catholic identity and ready to respond to contemporary changes.
  • Provide school leaders with the development needed to drive both school and system-level improvement.
  • Develop long-term, evidence-based plans for our workforce, technology, finances, and capital works.
  • Create space for creative thinking that challenges the status quo and embraces emerging technologies.
  • Ensure our financial models are transparent, equitable and designed for long-term stability.
  • Strengthen links with Catholic and community organisations, responding to the evolving call of the Church to view the future of education through a missionary lens.
