Early Term 3, 2020 SPORT Update

Please be advised of the following cancellations in early term 3.

Primary: 

• 31/7 - Soccer gala days
• 6/8 - West Region Athletics
• 11/8 - South Coast Region Athletics

 Secondary:

• 27/7 - Athletics
• 29/7 - Netball Championships

These decisions have been made in consultation with Catholic Education, Diocese of Wollongong (CEDoW) leadership and have taken into account a number of factors.  As important as it is to restart sport it must be done with the safety of students, school staff, officials and spectators as a priority. A major consideration was also to take pressure off schools in running events and trials in preparation for the Diocesan level.

The NSW Government announced that community children’s sports will be permitted to resume from July 1, with organisations and councils given four weeks to prepare safety plans for the resumption of competitions and leagues. The unknown scope of these safety plans, the lack of local school preparation time and the large number of athletes, spectators and officials at Diocesan events have all contributed to these decisions.

We look forward optimistically, to a resumption of our normal sporting program from mid term 3.
