The scripture passage I chose was ‘The Birth of Christ’ (Matthew 1:18-25). I imagined the instant love that Mary and Joseph had for their newborn baby. I immediately recognised this when I saw my baby photos of my parents holding me as a newborn and gazing upon them. They must have felt immediate love for me, like Mary, Joseph and Jesus did.

The artist that inspired me was Vincent Van Gogh and his Starry Night artwork. I used this technique in my background. The circle image with Mary, Joseph and Jesus is the centre of my artwork. I chose to use a circle as it has no end, just like the love my parents have for me. The background circles also represent this. I hand drew the image within their circle, showing Mary, Joseph and Jesus connected . To me this represents the bond my parents share with me. I chose to leave their faces without detail to allow people looking at my artwork to imagine their own family. The star of Bethlehem represents the light that guides everyone. My parents guide me along my journey, helping and inspiring me to be a better person.
