I chose the passage Isaiah 40:3, ‘A voice cries out’ because it reminds me of when I was going through a tough time. I found it uplifting, as I remembered that happiness is key and that I have to stand strong which is why I named this artwork ‘Stand Strong’.  I think this passage is explaining that our world is just like a human. It needs to be cared for the way Jesus was and that we are all equal. I have placed this passage at the centre of the yarning circle as I hope we can all share this message.

I drew the girl crying out because sometimes I feel like screaming but I don’t. I chose bright colours because it’s important to always try and be bright and strong. I believe that this world is an amazing role model for how to cope when things go wrong. I always look up to Mother Earth and have a special connection with our planet. Personally, I’m a proud Aboriginal and I have a strong connection to country. I have shown this in my artwork by using the woven threads of colour to connect the voice to earth and fire.
