Origami has been a part of our school learning program for Art in term three. I enjoyed creating figures using origami and was inspired to use this technique to construct the Nativity Scene.

The Nativity scene displays figures representing the infant Jesus as the promised Messiah, our Mother Mary and Saint Joseph. I also created the angel of God and the three kings.

I choose to represent the nativity scene in my artwork because it reminds me of my own family. When my little sister was born I remember my whole family going to the hospital to meet her. We were filled with joy just as Mary, Joseph and the three kings were when Jesus was born.

Another important part of my artwork is the angel and the star. I choose to use white paper to create them to represent the light of God shining through.

My artwork was inspired by the poem The Christmas Story by Leanne Guenther. I hope when people see my artwork they think of the poem and the true story of Christmas.
