'The Shining Vessels' — Bronte Grove

Stella Maris Shellharbour Year 6 Bronte Grove v2

'The Shining Vessels'
Bronte Grove, Year 6
Stella Maris Catholic Parish Primary School, Shellharbour

My artwork is inspired by the scripture Matthew 2:9-12.

The Magi were sent by their king to follow the brightest star in the night sky. The Star would lead them to the place where their saviour would be born. I drew the Star of David which is a symbol of Judaism. It shines brightly upon the vessels, which the Magi presented to the holy family. The star blankets the vessels in colour, hinting at the importance of the gifts inside.

The bare brick and stone of the stable depicts the humble and lowly environment Jesus was born in. A single olive branch can be seen within one of the vessels. It represents the peacefulness and tranquility of the night.

I chose this scripture because it represents the moment Jesus was born from a humble beginning. Without this scripture we would never have been enlightened to how our saviour was born and the impact he would have on future generations to come.
