Wollongong Environment Network (WEN)

The Wollongong Environment Network (WEN) is an initiative of the Catholic Education Office that aims to support school communities to respond to Laudato Si’ and implement environmental stewardship and sustainability.

WEN logo without title2The WEN is a strategic attempt to help the Catholic Education Office and our Diocesan schools address the educational challenge put forth from Pope Francis in Laudato Si’:

"It needs educators capable of developing an ethics of ecology, and helping people, through effective pedagogy, to grow in solidarity, responsibility and compassionate care" — LS n210

The WEN is a response to our call as Christians to "realise that responsibility within creation and our duty towards nature and the Creator, are an essential part of our faith" — Pope John Paul II, 1990 New Year Message
