Springing Into The Garden at Bowral

At the end of Term 3 in 2020 the whole community of St Thomas Aquinas School Bowral spontaneously and simultaneously responded to the feel of warm air, the buzzing of bees and the budding of bright green leaves by preparing garden beds and raising seedlings in readiness for a massive planting around the school.

CEDoW Youth Ministry program undertakes review

Since its introduction in 2016, more than 3000 Catholic primary and secondary students have celebrated, explored, and engaged in their faith through a growing number of worship, and spiritual encounters provided by the Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong (CEDoW), in collaboration with Catholic Youth Ministry Wollongong (CYMW). A Review of the CEDoW Youth Ministry strategies and initiatives is currently being undertaken to ensure that the vibrant and creative methods of communication—developed to evangelise and engage a growing number of young adults and children with their faith in CEDoW schools—continues.

World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation

KNIT4NEED Challenge

Earlier this month, Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong (CEDoW) presented hundreds of scarves, beanies, booties, and blankets, to Wollongong’s Vinnies Van Coordinator, Kelly McCrohon. Each knitted item was lovingly handmade by students, staff, extended members of our school communities and Catholic Education staff, as part of CEDoW’s inaugural KNIT4NEED Challenge—supporting marginalised members of our local community who suffer from homelessness.

Dr. Aidan Johnson, Science Coordinator at John Therry Catholic College said all five students enrolled in the course had done an outstanding job with their research and the quality of the work they presented. “The recent bushfires and current Coronavirus pandemic have brought the importance of the three John Therry students’ projects into the spotlight,” said Dr. Johnson. “Due to the high quality of the work and topical research, all three are now aiming to have their projects published in scientific journals.“We congratulate all students on their achievements and we wish them well for their future scientific endeavors.
