Once again many of our schools have joined in the national campaign Clean Up Australia. Over thirty years ago, Ian Kiernan, AO, an "average Australian", had a simple idea to make a difference in his own backyard. The day has now become the nation's largest community-based environmental event, held every year in March. Over the years more than 21 million Aussies have participated in Clean Up Australia activities and events with our schools being regular participators.
At Ss Peter and Paul Kiama the students took the opportunity to clean up their school as well as their local beach.
At Nazareth the year 6 crew, planted a whopping 1400 seedlings from Shellharbour City Council, creating a haven for long-distance pollinators and future forests for the local wildlife.
Parents and friends joined in with the students at St Brigid's Gwynneville to clean up the playground and do some harvesting of tomatoes from the gardens.
At St Paul's Albion Park the students made good use of the time to clean up the school playground and gardens.
