National Recycling Week, established by Planet Ark in 1996, is held every year during the second week of November (8th to 14th of November 2021). This year is the celebration of its 25th anniversary with the theme of: 

Celebrate National Recycling Week YOUR way!

St Francis Catholic College Edmondson Park certainly celebrated National Recycling Week THEIR way through a campaign of awareness and information for the school community that was driven by the staff. They shared some of the ways that they recycle at home, encouraging people to consider adding new aspects to their waste management at home and school.

They are certainly living up to the example of their school patron, St Francis of Assisi, who showed through his life, the connection we have with all of creation and the importance of caring for all creatures, each other and the planet.

National Recycling Week provides an important opportunity for councils, workplaces, schools and individuals to improve their recycling knowledge, build better recycling habits and build trust in recycling. Reducing our waste not only keeps valuable materials out of landfill, it also benefits the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and our need for new materials. Reducing and reusing can also save you money at home and in the workplace.
