My artwork was influenced by the scripture passage Luke 2:1-5. The Journey to Bethlehem is depicted in Baby Jesus’s eyes which was an important detail in the main subject, Jesus, to show the past and present. You can see flowers and hay which adds dimension to the artwork.

I can relate to this scripture passage because it shows how everyone’s journey starts off as a baby. This is the start of our uniqueness as we are all created in the likeness of God. By the reflection on Luke 2:1-5, my connection with God is deepened through his presence in the scripture passage and the hardships Mary and Joseph faced, helping me have empathy for them. When Mary and Joseph were on the Journey, they showed perseverance and care for their baby as they travelled for days on end. Although it was tough, they knew that God would always be with them.

I used my own art style and several references. I made a mixed media artwork with watercolour for the base, pencils for the shadows and paper flowers to symbolise new growth. The blue and purple colours show nervousness, but the yellow star shows happiness, showing that there would always be hope in times of worry.
