'the field of good news'

‘The Field of Good News’ is inspired by the ‘The Birth of Jesus and the Visit of the Shepherds’ (Luke 2:9-14). I have chosen this title for my artwork as the angel is bringing good news to the shepherds about the birth of Jesus.  

The angel has travelled a long distance to visit the shepherds to reveal the good news that the Son of God is born. I have used bright tones when painting her so that she contrasts with the dark night sky and field. Her wings are dazzling and glowing, lighting up the night sky. The angel is the focus of my artwork as she is the messenger of God. The news she brings will change the world and the lives of the shepherds. They are pointing to her, surprised at her presence, and gazing at her beauty.  

I used acrylic paint and different sized brushes to create my artwork because I enjoy working with this medium. I also used paint knives to blend and mix paint together so I could create the right colours and shades. I chose a big canvas for my artwork because I wanted more space to express the many parts of this story.
