Proverbs 29:25 - “Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe”. This bible verse connects deeply with Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem. I think Joseph’s pain, walking an astounding distance from Jerusalem, reflects his hardship on his journey and it was his faith and hope that were the only factors leading him forward.

I wanted to mirror Joseph’s persistence on the journey and create an artwork with my own passions, to show more creativity and symbolic gestures. I used pink as a base to represent New Life, Father’s heavenly care, inner peace and compassion. I used blue as a shadow, representing the healing powers of God, as Joseph could finally rest after his long journey. The blister I created on the “R” in “Journey” represents the sand against Joseph’s feet that would hurt, causing blisters, along with many minor injuries such as scabs and scars.

Each stroke I used referenced the journey's impact and captured the essence of the real nature in the story. Joseph knew that God had divinely planned for Mary to be with child and allowed him to suffer through this strenuous task to let himself pause, and evaluate his actions to become a better person.
