'Joy' — Leon Do

St Michael s Thirroul Year 6 Leon Do

'Joy'
Leon Do, Year 6
St Michael's Catholic Parish Primary School, Thirroul

When Jesus was born the star shone brightly above the stable where he lay. The Three Wise men saw the star and were filled with unadulterated joy, so they travelled through the night to visit the Son of God.

The aluminium foil figures shine in the darkness, portraying the sheer delight that was bubbling inside them on their journey. In the distance the stable where Jesus was born is glowing with radiance. This represents how Jesus is the light of our world. When we are in trying times of darkness and despair, or are going through difficult and demanding journeys; Jesus is our light, our guide and our hope. For me, this shining light represents my mum, who is always there for others and guides and lights the way for me in my life.

I was inspired by Olafur Eliasson, an artist who uses light to create depth and meaning in his artworks, especially one called ‘The Weather Project’. This scripture demonstrates the faith and love that the Three Wise Men have for God and Jesus.
